BSA is a proud leader of the Houston Methodist West Campus expansion and renovation! This project boasts multiple phases and a multifaceted endeavor. At the heart of this initiative is the construction of a new six story patient bed tower. Known as the East Tower, enhanced patient care and hospital efficiency is at the forefront of its design. First, the existing West Podium will undergo a three story expansion while the original hospital will receive a single story addition for an expanded food services area. Finally, the central utility plant will also undergo significant improvements to support the hospital’s growing needs.

The campus expansion’s planning and design were carefully structured into phased construction to maintain seamless operations. Phase 1 includes the completion of the three story West Podium expansion and food service addition, while Phase 2 focuses on the six story East Tower. With an estimated total expansion of 360,000 BGSF, this project exemplifies the scale and complexity of modern healthcare architecture.

This hospital system design is guided by three core principles, in addition to our passion for project…

  1. We enhance the patient experience by creating a welcoming and easy-to-navigate environment.
  2. We develop flexible, long-lasting spaces that can adapt to future healthcare needs and operational optimization.
  3. We use evidence-based design principles that prioritize safety, efficiency, and high-quality patient care.
