Children’s Mercy Kansas City and Sporting Kansas City partnered to advance health, fitness, and specialized sports medicine for youth athletes across the Kansas City Metropolitan area. This state-of-the-art Sports Medicine Center promotes integrated healthcare solutions, combining cutting-edge healthcare interior design with custom planning and design to enhance performance and recovery for young athletes.

Located in Wyandotte County, Kansas, this innovative clinic allows young athletes to train alongside their professional soccer heroes. Sporting Kansas City shares the facility’s gymnasium and training areas with Children’s Mercy Hospital (CMH), fostering an environment of mentorship.

Designed by BSA, the facility features an open-plan layout with a dynamic concept of “Continuous Movement.” This idea extends beyond the physical activity of athletes to the very structure of the facility itself. For example, the interior architecture reflects movement through layered shapes, intersecting forms, and purposeful massing. These principles also assist with intuitive wayfinding.

The Sports Medicine Center represents the progressive ideas of decision-makers involved and serves as a vital community asset. As a top architecture firm specializing in healthcare architecture and interior renovation, BSA has delivered a project that will inspire the next generation of athletes. In addition, this facility will promote health and wellness for the broader Kansas City community.
