The design incorporates elements that improve patient comfort and introduces a calming atmosphere that is conducive to healing. The alliance between the Washington University’s School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital allows the two entities to collaborate in the same facility on life-enhancing oncology practices and presents teaching opportunities for students. The oncology center also features a linear accelerator, pharmacy and physician office space. Natural light shines on treatment areas and views to the outdoors introduce nature into the healing environment.
