Sinai Health System Master Plan

To assist Sinai Health System with its mission of “becoming THE national model” for urban healthcare delivery, BSA LifeStructures was engaged to prepare a master facility plan. The firm worked with the Sinai Health System to develop nine guiding principles. The intent of these principles was to think holistically, in an effort to improve the entire Sinai Health System and surrounding community.

The Sinai Hospital Campus is located just west of the Illinois Medical District. Although not formally a part of this district, its proximity to other large hospital systems lends itself to easier collaboration among physicians and improved patient outcomes. Sinai has the unique advantage of being near the Illinois Medical District, but its exclusion from the formal boundaries allows the hospital to become more entrenched in the community it serves.

The master planning was divided into two phases: Phase 1A, an Ambulatory Care Center and Phase 1B, a new Inpatient Bed Tower and Hospital Modernization. The goal of the master plan is to eventually consolidate all of Sinai Health System onto the north side of Ogden Avenue.
