The Simon Family Tower is a new 10-story, 675,000 sf addition to Riley Children’s Hospital at Indiana University Health designed to add capacity and enhance patient satisfaction. BSA designed the engineering systems for phase two of the project with a focus on minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency.

Phase two of the Simon Family Tower project was the first project in Indiana to use an Integrated Project Delivery approach. The IPD team measured their results against mutually-agreed upon project goals relative to schedule, safety and long term hospital operational goals relative to cost, quality and satisfaction. The project team used Lean design methods to create a mock-up patient room that the client could walk-through and comment on. This process saved $325,000 in potential reconstruction.
