Health Sciences Building Design for the Next Generation of Care Leaders

Miami University is addressing Ohio’s growing demand for healthcare professionals through a bold reimagining of its academic landscape. Central to this effort is a new addition to their campus—an ambitious health sciences building design that sets a new standard for interdisciplinary education and collaboration. This is the first new academic facility constructed on campus in over a decade. Therefore, the project is pivotal in shaping a multidisciplinary health district and sustaining Miami’s tradition of academic excellence.

This transformative facility brings together programs in nursing, physician assistant studies, speech pathology, audiology, wellness, and counseling under one roof. Designed to foster resilience, professional readiness, and holistic health, the space integrates hands-on care environments with leading-edge instructional areas. Additionally, the design supports cross-disciplinary learning and prepares students to thrive in collaborative healthcare settings.

As part of the overall plan, the existing Health Services Clinic will relocate to a newly renovated Harris Hall—an accelerated conversion of a former dining facility. This interim space will temporarily house student health services, the counseling center, and wellness programs.

By uniting education and care functions in a single, purpose-driven space, this health sciences building design reinforces Miami University’s commitment to training the next generation of health leaders and advancing human well-being through integrated learning environments.
