This new standalone hospital in Gas City, Indiana, represents a significant expansion of the footprint for Marion Health, aiming to enhance healthcare accessibility for a currently under-served community. This hospital project is a testament to Marion Health’s commitment to providing top-notch medical services to all community members, regardless of their location.
The vision for the hospital campus and its facilities is deeply reflective of the rich industrial heritage that characterizes the Grant County area. The design is inspired by the healing elements of the natural world, integrating these influences to create a harmonious environment. The facility’s architecture and interior design celebrate the coexistence of industry and life in all its forms, blending the robust industrial aesthetic with the calming presence of nature.
This hospital was developed as an easily accessible, patient-centered environment incorporating advanced technology and offering a hospitality-like atmosphere. Every aspect of the process was carefully planned with the utmost convenience of patients, healthcare providers, and staff in mind. The goal was to create a space that not only meets but exceeds the expectations of all who use it, ensuring a seamless and comfortable healthcare experience.
The facility features a new 4-story building encompassing 113,000 square feet, designed to serve as an acute-care hospital with a wide range of ambulatory services. This facility provides comprehensive orthopedic and spine services, including surgery, rehabilitation, and outpatient clinic care. Additionally, it houses family practice and multi-specialty outpatient clinics and emergency services, complete with a helipad, radiology, laboratory services, and inpatient acute care units. The design also includes the flexibility to accommodate future expansions, ensuring that the hospital can continue to grow and evolve to meet the community’s needs.
Energy and sustainability goals were balanced with the reality of a smaller maintenance staff available to operate complex systems to provide robust yet maintainable engineering solutions.
