The station features a modern design with light wood cabinetry, white countertops, and gray work surfaces. A large wall-mounted monitor displays patient monitoring data. The station is positioned along a corridor with patient rooms, creating a central hub for staff to monitor and respond to patients' needs. The warm yellow accent wall adds a cheerful element to the space and displays framed nature photography with red and green floral imagery, continuing the botanical theme seen throughout the unit. Beyond the desk, the corridor extends with the same light wood-look flooring in a herringbone pattern, and another floral wall mural is visible in the distance. The design creates a professional yet welcoming medical environment that balances clinical functionality with aesthetic warmth.

BSA was a proud leader of Cheyenne Regional Medical Center’s hospital renovation and expansion project, addressing the need to upgrade and relocate aging inpatient units. The Cheyenne Regional Medical Center’s extensive Master Plan, completed by BSA, is designed to administer patient-focused upgrades to key departments, including:

  • Labor, Delivery, and Postpartum
  • NICU
  • Kitchen
  • Medical record storage
  • Billing
  • ICU and In-Patient Dialysis
  • Behavioral Health

As a trusted architecture, engineering, and interior design firm, BSA provided comprehensive services—including architecture, MEP engineering, interior design, operational planning, and medical equipment planning. The renovation transformed the hospital’s 4th floor into modern postpartum, labor and delivery, and NICU departments. Once these departments relocated, the hospital repurposed the vacated 5th floor space to a new intensive care unit (ICU).

This hospital renovation and expansion presented several complex challenges. Specifically, the team had to coordinate construction above an active surgical department, navigate low floor-to-floor heights, and manage schedule and budget constraints caused by COVID-19-induced supply chain disruptions.

Nevertheless, BSA designed the project with flexibility and future-readiness in mind. The new ICU features a pandemic-ready exhaust system and infrastructure to support AI-enhanced fall risk evaluation and patient monitoring technologies. In addition, eight ICU rooms are adaptable to rapidly convert into airborne-infection isolation rooms using the building automation system.

In conclusion, this four-phase, 85,000-square-foot renovation represents a long-term investment in delivering high-quality patient care. Throughout the process, BSA’s collaborative and transparent approach fostered trust with the CRMC team, ensuring smooth coordination and successful outcomes at every stage of the renovation and expansion.
