Good Samaritan Hospital has developed a strategic vision to enhance its status as the Regional Referral Center in southwest Indiana, through the delivery of world-class care in state-of-the-art facilities. Good Samaritan Hospital will do this while growing the medical staff and extending care into secondary service areas.
In working with Good Samaritan Hospital to develop the new master plan that would meet these goals, our designers assessed the facilities, interviewed staff and physicians, and considered projected growth. Creating a new Inpatient Pavilion was evaluated against reusing the existing facilities. The efficiencies gained from a modern patient unit design and the ability to enhance department adjacencies led Good Samaritan Hospital to opt for a new Inpatient Pavilion.
The implementation of the five-story inpatient tower at Good Samaritan Hospital adds 120 beds and 200,000 square feet to the regional referral hospital. In addition to the inpatient tower, the existing facility is being renovated to accommodate physician office space.
The inpatient tower features the Cardiac Center of Excellence, a state-of-the-art cardiology unit, complete with a standard and a hybrid cath lab. The addition also incorporates private patient rooms with space to better accommodate visitors and families. With the addition of a new energy center, improved energy distribution to the hospital’s expanded campus with be provided. The central plant energy center will reduce energy costs and decrease the facility’s carbon footprint. The facility is designed to obtain LEED certification upon completion.
