New Freestanding Emergency Department Enhances Access to Care in Lakeland, FL
Lakeland Regional Health opened its first freestanding emergency department (FSED). Designed by BSA, the new state-of-the-art facility marks a significant milestone for South Lakeland. Specifically, this FSED expands critical access to high-quality, lifesaving emergency care. BSA is proud to have provided architecture, interior design, and planning services.
This is Lakeland Regional Health’s first FSED, which was designed to deliver seamless, high-quality emergency care. This facility integrates advanced medical technology with an efficient, patient-centered layout. The new location provides a more convenient option for residents without compromising the standard of care.
Open 24/7, the freestanding emergency department delivers comprehensive care for both adults and children. It features advanced radiology services—including CT scans, X-rays, and ultrasounds—as well as full on-site laboratory capabilities. If inpatient care is needed, patients are transported at no cost to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center, located just minutes away.
With its modern, patient-centered design and streamlined clinical functionality, this new freestanding emergency department is a significant addition to Lakeland Regional Health’s expanding network. It will ensure that more people have timely access to the emergency care they need. Equally exciting, the addition of this facility will relieve medical staff.
