The Dearborn Cancer Center, located within eyeshot of Interstate 275 and U.S. 50, features dedicated spaces for women’s health, radiation oncology, medical oncology, infusion, and various support services. One of the region’s largest health care systems, St. Elizabeth Healthcare, built this new 66,000-square-foot cancer center in Southeastern Indiana to address a huge unmet need in the community.

The Dearborn Cancer Center offers many state-of-the-art technologies, including on-site radiation oncology to treat a broad range of cancers, including breast, lung, prostate, and colon. Highly precise radiation oncology services, such as infusion services, are integrated with current treatment plans. Additionally, the facility allows for multidisciplinary oncology services in one centralized location, including:

  • Medical and radiation oncologists
  • Oncology surgeons
  • Specialized nurse navigators and research nurses
  • Licensed genetic counselors
  • Precision medicine
  • Prevention clinics
  • Integrative oncology
  • Clinical research
  • Survivorship support

The new facility will include 12 private exam rooms, 24 infusion bays, and an on-site laboratory. It will also include a LINAC treatment vault, CT scan, and PET CT scan for the most up-to-date imaging. Finally, on-site supportive services include financial counselors, specialized nurse navigators, nutritionists, a clinical research office, social services, and more.

“Comprehensive breast cancer services will also bring screening, diagnosis and treatment under one roof, so patients don’t have to travel as far,” reported Dr. Doug Flora, Executive Medical Director of the St. Elizabeth Cancer Center.

Key features of the Dearborn Cancer Center include:

  • Precision medicine and genomic health, utilizing cutting-edge science and technology to assure delivery of the right medicine, at the right dose, at the right time
  • Clinical research with access to more clinical trials, sponsored by the National Cancer Institute and members of the NCI National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN)
  • Centralized location for increased access and patient convenience
