Josh Halon, BSA LifeStructures’ Director of Healthcare Operational Planning, has been selected as Treasurer for the 2018 NIHD (Nursing Institute for Healthcare Design) Board of Directors. Learn a little more about Josh and his passion for NIHD below (taken from a recent NIHD interview).
What is your current role in Healthcare Design?
I have the privilege of serving as the Director of Planning for BSA LifeStructures, which is a full service design firm. My background is as a Registered Nurse in which I worked in a large variety of healthcare settings. My role is to help lead organizations through not only the design process as an expert in healthcare operations, but also in collaborating to help drive strategic vision and future care delivery.
I am very passionate about advancing the nursing profession and strongly believe in the voice of the caregiver, patient and family as part of the design process. My wife had a significant illness that has caused us to spend a large amount of time across thebspectrum of the healthcare continuum. I have spent countless days as a husband in hospitals, rehab centers and outpatient facilities. I have experienced both good and bad care, in both well and not-so-well designed facilities. Not to mention the many years I have had the opportunity to serve as a nurse in the acute care setting. This experience has helped me to further grasp the importance of our role as design professionals and the immense impact we have on how care is delivered.
