Tim Spence, AIA, ACHA, national healing market leader of BSA LifeStructures, has been named the firm’s next president. Spence, who also serves on BSA’s board of directors, will work directly with other members of BSA’s leadership team to lead the national architecture, engineering, interior design, and planning firm.

Spence assumed his new role May 15, replacing Melissa Davis, the firm’s president since 2016. BSA traditionally appoints a new president every four to seven years, Davis will remain with the firm as a principal and member of the board of directors.

“Tim is extremely well-qualified to assume this position,” said Chairman Kevin Token. “Tim has a unique and thoughtful way of viewing every situation. His experience at different sized firms, in working closely with our clients, and on the board in recent years has provided the knowledge he needs to be a successful president.”

Tim has accumulated more than 25 years of experience and is a registered architect in Colorado, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Florida. His facility designs have been recognized throughout business communities, and his writings and lectures have led him to become an established thought leader in the health care design industry. Spence is a board-certified architect through the American College of Healthcare Architects and an active member of the American Institute of Architects. He has a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Southern California.

“I have always believed in the transformational power of architecture, and I joined BSA in 2015 to be a part of a firm whose mission of creating inspired solutions that improve lives aligned with mine,” said Spence. “BSA possesses untapped potential, and I am looking forward to working with my exceptional colleagues to push this firm to greatness.”
