Healing
Melanie Harris, AIA, LEEP AP BD+C, WELL AP, principal at BSA LifeStructures, has been named the Healing Practice Director for BSA. As a leading healthcare design firm, BSA has served the industry for over 45 years as experts in healing environments. Melanie will build on the firm’s history in healthcare nationally as well as supporting the regional studios to grow the practice.
“As we look to redefine the healthcare design market, especially in the rapidly evolving world today, we look towards Melanie’s leadership and unique vision to forge an equally inspired path for BSA’s growth in the practice,” said Tim Spence, president.
Melanie joined BSA four months ago to expand the firm’s presence in the Florida market. She continues to develop that market with the support of the entire BSA team. Melanie enjoys bringing unique solutions to design challenges and is passionate about building strong relationships with clients and industry partners. She is a powerful leader, strong communicator and a visionary strategist.
“At the age of 15, when my mom succumbed to cancer, the wellbeing of people became my focus. Rather than becoming a medical professional, I set my sights on architecture for healing,” said Harris. “I believe in the power of community and the impact design and planning can have on strengthening communities.”
Melanie is a graduate of the College of Engineering, Trivandrum with a Bachelor of Science in architecture and Texas A&M University with a master’s in architecture.
With national expertise and regional leadership, BSA operates as one firm with six design studios strategically located across the country. To best serve our clients as partners, BSA shares talent, knowledge, and expertise across regions, allowing us to provide responsive yet innovative design solutions. Collaboration and empowerment are vital to our process.
