Fairbanks Hall - Education and Resource Center
Enhancing patient care, public safety and clinical outcomes
This pioneering project creates a shared educational and administrative environment for three of the largest healthcare institutions in the state of Indiana: Indiana University Health, Indiana University School of Medicine and the Indiana University School of Nursing. The facility is internationally recognized for the 30,000 square feet interdisciplinary simulation center that annually trains thousands of students and health professionals in a high-fidelity environment.
The simulation center represents a symbiotic relationship among three partners - sharing resources, operating expenses and faculty under the common mission of advancing quality of patient care and safety through real-life, real-time medical/nursing training. Simulated spaces include a skills learning area, an e-ICU, an operating room, emergency medicine, patient care, obstetrics and debriefing rooms.
The design response considers its combination of a world-class medical training facility and its function as an effective recruiting tool for the three institutions.
