Good Samaritan Regional Health Center
Healing environment and strategic collaborations create a hospital of choice
This replacement facility for St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Incorporated creates the hospital of choice for Mt. Vernon and its surrounding community. The hospital integrates physicians by accommodating ancillary joint venture opportunities through a medical office building and ambulatory surgery center. The 146-bed acute care facility introduces private patient rooms.
The project was delivered with an integrated design approach to achieve high performance on a variety of environmental and social goals. Using this integrated approach, optimal results in patient safety, operational efficiency and energy efficiency are anticipated. The project team implemented multiple strategies that saved the hospital on costs during design and construction, including a paperless workflow system and prefabrication construction techniques. The project was designed to meet Energy Star and Green Guide for Healthcare standards.
The hospital has put a focus on art and nature to encourage a stress free environment for all patients. Notable artwork in the hospital includes a stained glass wall in the hospitals 100-seat chapel and an entry bell tower that features hand-crafted bells donated by community members. Multiple healing gardens on the hospital’s campus provide patients a view to nature and allow space for reflection.
