Bassett Campus Master Facility Plan
Balancing history and modern healthcare delivery
With several buildings nearing a century old, Bassett Healthcare faced the challenge of blending modern amenities with a historical campus. Assessing the campus with an integrated team of design experts, planning initiatives were balanced against cost, implementation and support of hospital image.
To guide decision making, facility objectives were developed in coordination with the hospital. These goals included improving the work environment and operational performance, increasing support space, maintaining a manageable budget and schedule and improving the campus image. All new construction was identified to reflect the original Georgian architecture, reinforcing the Bassett Healthcare image.
