Universities building the future together

A historic partnership between a public and private university created an opportunity to explore how this collaboration would impact site selection, design and long-term development between the University of Notre Dame and Indiana University. The emerging site existed on the outer edge of the Notre Dame Master Plan, dictating a new precinct plan that would drive design for a new shared medical education and research facility.

The unique site location is on Indiana University property, but located at front door of the Notre Dame campus that sits most closely to the town and nearby residents of South Bend, Indiana. This planning effort called for equip input between the two universities and input from a community group to create an agreed upon plan for future development.
