Hadron Therapy and Research Institute Predesign
Design merges nature and technology
The pre-design for this proton therapy center establishes an inspiring design with flexibility to accommodate the complex technology within. The institute is designed to include six beam delivery rooms, accepting a proton beam from a 250-million-electron-volt synchrotron. As an additional form of treatment, a linear accelerator that delivers conventional photon therapy treatment is included.
The interior, with natural stone and wood finishes, brings together the natural environment surrounding the building and the technology within. Sustainable design practices are incorporated throughout the design with the goal of obtaining LEED certification upon completion.
