Addition addresses growing community's needs

To meet the needs of a rapidly growing community and improve the experience of patients, visitors and staff the addition at St. Vincent Carmel Hospital offers patient-focused care in a hotel-like setting.

The addition accommodates a relocated and enlarged emergency department and spaces for new programs like maternity services, bariatric weight loss surgery, and a short stay unit. The new emergency department changes processes to improve efficiency and outpatient flow in a cost-effective manner. Called the Treatment, Testing and Observation (TTO) Unit, the short-stay unit directly behind the ED accommodates ED patient overflow and consolidates several outpatient functions with similar space and flow needs.
