Derek Selke

Derek serves as Director of the Architectural practice at BSA LifeStructures – leading through design that positively affects people both aesthetically and functionally. His work is focused on healthcare where he sees the role of architect to be vital in shaping the healing process. Derek’s designs do not focus on a distinct style, but are rather the result of client culture, project objectives and the influence of the surrounding natural and built environment.
 
As a former Board of Directors member for a healthcare organization, he has gained an understanding of the fundamental purpose of healthcare design – improve the user experience. He is a proponent of bringing nature into the healing environment, using design to interact with the natural environment through seamlessly integrated indoor and outdoor spaces. Derek’s iconic designs include the new Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois, and the Safdarjung Hospital Predesign in New Delhi, India.
