Julie Kern

Julie’s career has combined a research and design focus to create outcome-based healthcare planning and design. She is the Director of Planning at BSA LifeStructures and oversees a diverse group of operational planners, facility planners and engineers on planning initiatives. A leader in establishing the firm’s LifeStructures Metrics®, she brings an evidence-based design approach to all projects that allows research, data and comparative analysis to inform design.

Julie resides on the Center for Health Design’s Evidence-based Design Accreditation and Certification Committee. She has completed notable research and studies of noise, distance and patient room design that have been featured in international conferences and publications.
