Despite the proliferation of change in the healthcare industry, the patient room still remains the crucial building block for all hospitals. Using the tenants of evidence-based design, BSA LifeStructures conducts rigorous studies of the patient room and surrounding nursing unit to create inpatient environments that support a healing environment and foster organizational efficiency.
Using LifeStructures Metrics®, facility and operational metrics are observed to create hospital environments responsive to a project’s unique requirements. Nursing unit configuration, support distribution, travel distances and flows of people are explored and finalized with client desired outcomes in mind. Our ability to create efficient hospitals is strengthened by on-staff licensed healthcare professionals that translate clinical work and care flows to the design process through operational planning. After occupancy, we return to measure design success and identify lessons that can be applied to similar future projects.
